Lochland D. Jeffries

Memorial service for Lochland D. Jeffries, 84, of Russell will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton. Lochland passed away on Wednesday, January 6 while at home under the care of his wife and and Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley.

Lochland is survived by his wife, Cynthia of Russell. A brother, Peter pre deceased him.

Lochland was born February 2, 1931 in Schnectady, NY, the son of the late Morris and Grace (Benton) Chase. He graduated from Knox-Memorial Central School in Russell. Lochland served in the US Airforce and retired after 20 years of service. He later was director of a convalescent home in Idaho, was a NYS Trooper in Malone for a few years and was a corrections officer in Idaho for 20 years, retiring in 1994.

Lochland was member of the Amvets Post 19 in Ogdensburg, VFW Post 1231 in Canton and a member of Russell Fire and Rescue. He initiated a meals on wheels program at the convalescent home he managed, he was a pilot, a scuba diver and enjoyed woodworking.
