Sharon I. Warriner

swarrinerFOWLER- Sharon Ilene Barnes Warriner, age 74, of Fowler, NY passed away on January 29, 2016 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

Calling hours for Sharon will be on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at French Funeral Home, Gouverneur. Her funeral service will be on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Reggie Curtis officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery in Clare. Sharon was born on September 10, 1941 in Russell, NY to the late Joseph William Finley and Barbara Ellen Webb. She was later adopted in her youth by Garrett and Jeanette (Dana) Barnes. Sharon graduated from Knox Memorial High School in Russell, NY and then went to St. Lawrence University for two years. She served in the United States Army, where she did two tours in Germany. Sharon served from October 12, 1962 until her honorable discharge on November 22, 1968. She married Clyde Lee Warriner of Williamsburg, Mass on June 1, 1968 in Wurzburg, West Germany.

Sharon worked for Scott Paper in South Hadley, Mass; H&R Block and then Caldor Department Store in Springfield, Mass. She loved fishing, hunting, helping Lee in the woods. Sharon also enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading and crocheting. She loved being with her grandchildren and was a member of the Harrisville Grange.

Surviving is her husband, Clyde Lee Warriner of Fowler; a daughter, Cynthia Lynne Porter of Fowler; a sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Alvin Kelley of Alaska; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth A. and Andrew L. Porter.

Sharon is predeceased by her birth and adoptive parents; a son, Todd Raymond Warriner; a son-in-law, Wesley R. Porter; two brothers, Peter William Chase and Jerry Finley; and a sister, Ellen Curtis.
