Bruce L. Hewlett

Bruce Lee Hewlett, 62, died January 30, 2011 in New York, NY. Born in Watertown, NY, Mr. Hewlett graduated from Knox Memorial High School in Russell, NY and SUNY, Canton, NY. He is survived by his mother, Marion Giffin of Russell, NY, a sister, Karen T. Rocca of Clermont, FL, his daughter, Tara L. Hewlett of Chicago, IL, his son, Brett C. Hewlett of Springfield, PA, a niece, Kristie Green of Orlando, FL, a nephew, Jason Rocca of St.. Petersburg, FL and Maria Davila of New York, NY.

Mr. Hewlett was an avid outdoorsman. Aside from fly fishing and hunting his own land in upstate New York, he spent a good deal of time over the years hunting caribou in Newfoundland and elk and mule deer in Colorado and Wyoming. His other interests included music of all genres, stock car racing, motocross, motorcycles and most recently racing sailboats off Long Island.

Mr. Hewlett was a member of Lansdowne Lodge 711, F&AM, where he served as Master in 1993.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 9 East Main Street, Canton, NY. Interment will be private.

Perhaps the thing Mr. Hewlett will be most remembered for was for the way he greeted most everyone he met — Howdy, Howdy.
