Arnold B. Colton

acoltonFuneral service for Arnold B. Colton, 78, of Clare, will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton with Rev. Lee Sweeney, officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Clare. Arnold died on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown with his daughter Paula Ramsey and granddaughter Trista Snyder by his side.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 PM on Thursday, August 1 and from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Friday, August 2, 2013. Contributions in his memory may be made to American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Surviving Arnold are three sons, Perry and wife Kathy; Patrick; and Paul and wife Tammy all of Russell; three daughters, Pam and Dan Wolfe of Russell; Penny Newcombe of Norwood; and Paula and Hal Ramsey of Heuvelton; 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Barbara and Robert Harrington of Canton and Carol and Dave Ufford of NH.

Arnold is predeceased by a daughter Patricia, a brother Raymond and two great-grandchildren Jace and Jett Wolfe Cordwell.

Arnold was born, March 13, 1935 in Clare, the son of the late Worth and Evelyn (Weston) Colton. He attended Knox-Memorial till the 11th grade. On July 1, 1956, he married Frances Kinney in Gouverneur. She predeceased him in 1999. Arnold was owner and operator of Colton’s Tree Service and Stump Removal and Colton’s Custom Butchering as well as Town of Clare Dog Warden and Farmer.

Arnold was a member of the Clear Pond Hunting Club, past member of DCSR Fire and Rescue and enjoyed hunting.
