Marlene M. Pullmain

mpullmainFuneral service for Marlene M. Pullmain, 83, of North Russell will be held on Friday, September 4, 2015 at 12:00 PM at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton. Burial will follow in the North Russell Cemetery. Marlene died on Monday, August 31, 2015 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

There will be a calling hour before the service at 11 AM on Friday. Contributions in her memory may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley, 6805 US Hwy 11; Potsdam, New York 13676 or to a charity of one’s choice.

Marlene is survived by a brother, Lt. Colonel Garcia Morrow and wife Gail of Branson, MO as well as nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Gloria Maxine and Carl Gluck.

Marlene was born, October 18, 1931 in North Russell, the daughter of the late Garcia and Mildred (Hill) Morrow. She graduated from Knox Memorial in 1949 and was the first woman to graduate from Canton ATI in 1951 with an Associates of Applied Arts and Science Degree. Marlene was a member of the Pi Nu Epsilon Sorority. She worked for St. Lawrence County Dept. of Social Services for 35 years, retiring as Accounting Supervisor in 1986. On July 30, 1966 she married Joseph T. Pullmain at the Canton Presbyterian Church, he predeceased her on August 20, 2005.

Marlene was a member of the NYS Public Welfare Accountants Association, she served as secretary/treasurer of the North Russell Cemetery for several years and volunteered at the Russell Museum. Marlene enjoyed bowling, genealogy, camping and was skilled in ceramics as well as many other things.
