Teddy was born on September 3, 1939 in Russell to the late Harry Jesse James and Inez M. Harmer. She attended the Knox Memorial Central School in Russell and married Elmer L. “Buster” Loope on February 12, 1958 in Richville. Buster passed away on March 3, 1993.

Teddy worked as a C.N.A. for many years at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She later owned and operated The Skunk’s Nest tavern in Hermon for over 12 years. Teddy loved travelling. She visited and stayed for various lengths of time in many states with long-time companion Robert Woodrow. Shortly after Robert’s death in 2013, she returned to the North Country, taking residence at the Samuel F. Vilas Home in Plattsburgh, an adult home for senior citizens. There, she made numerous friends who will cherish her memory. The family would like to thank all of her special friends there for their kindness and love.

Teddy had many hobbies, widely varied, recently enjoying a new interest in yoga, after attending a class offered at Vilas, to life-long loves of whodunits and detective stories, crocheting, or working a jigsaw puzzle.

A bundle of endless energy, she also loved the dance floor, camping and garage sales. She always liked to look her best, enjoying her hair appointments and an occasional manicure. She made friends easily and kept them just as easily. She had a soft heart, taking in any stray animals her children brought home over the years.

Her survivors include daughters Cynthia Porter and her husband John, and Robin Loope and her fiancé Scott Joy; a son, Kevin Loope and his wife Faye; a brother, Harry J. Harmer and his wife Char; and two sisters, Regina “Peggy” Langevin and her husband Max; and Wanda Carpenter and her husband Donald. Teddy is also survived by 7 grandchildren and their partners, David Loope and Shelley Provost; Mallory (Loope) Daby; John Porter II; Daniel Porter; Jennifer Loope, Chad Loope and Sarah Loope; and 7 great grandchildren.

Teddy and Buster were predeceased by three children; Paul, Valiant and Diana, and a granddaughter, Nicole, daughter of Cynthia.
