Anne Mary Scott (Bessette)

ascottMrs. Anne Mary (Bessette) Scott, 85, of Russell, passed away peacefully at her home of 66 years, on Thursday, June 30, 2016, while surrounded by family and friends.

Anne was born on January 13, 1931, the daughter of the late John and Nora (Warren) Bessette. Anne graduated from Hugh C. Williams High School in 1949 and attended Ogdensburg School of Business.

Anne married the love of her life, Milton Scott at St. Paul’s Church in Pyrites, on September 29, 1950. Together they operated the family farm in Russell. Milton passed away on April 28, 1988.

Anne is survived by two daughters, Ellen Meilleur and husband Ricky of Russell and Jodi Fox and husband Scott of Madrid; by five grandchildren, Richard and Kathy Meilleur and Gregory and Wendy Meilleur, all of Russell; Emily Meilleur Baker of Edwards; Dillon Fox (US Navy), stationed in San Diego, CA and Sierra Fox (US Navy), stationed in Mayport, FL.

Also surviving are eleven great-grandchildren; Kelsey, Lacy, Ryan, Jarred, Makayla, Kassidy, Liam, Eagen, Emma, Eben and Sophia; two great-great grandchildren, Blake and Laeton; two brothers, Nelson and Warren Bessette, both of Canton and Noreen Sheridan of Canton and Elevene Corbine of Russell.

Anne is predeceased by three brothers, Reardon, Gerald and Burton.

Anne enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and canning. Anne loved to cook and she made the “Best Pies”. Anne always said her family was her greatest treasure.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Oratory, Pyrites. Burial will follow in the Hermon Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM, Friday, July 1, 2016 at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton.
