Betty Dana

bdanaDEKALB – Betty Dana, age 85, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Riverledge Nursing Home in Ogdensburg.

Calling hours will be held at French Funeral Home in Edwards on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Her funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. with Lay Pastor Martha Helmer officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Clare.

Betty was born on August 20, 1931 in Russell to the late Stanley and Gladys (Morrow) Hull. She attended the Knox Memorial High School and married Raymond E. Dana on December 31, 1949. The couple owned and operated the Russell Corner Store for many years, which Betty loved running. Raymond passed away on November 9, 1976.

Betty enjoyed visiting with friends and family, going to the DeKalb Methodist Church, painting, playing cards and the occasional trip to the casino.

Her survivors include three sons and their wives, Dennis and Marleen Dana of Fine, Ronald and Esther Dana of Russell, Richard and Edna Dana of Canton; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Betty is predeceased by a son, Douglas Dana; a daughter, Sheryle “Sherry” Bushaw; brothers LeRoy “Sonny” and Gaylord Hull; and sisters, Doris Hubbard, Mabel Despaw and Louise Smith.
