Ruth (Basford) Fishbeck

Ruth I. Fishbeck, 69, of Plimpton road, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday November 24, 2015 at the DePeyster United Methodist Church at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Thomas Nichols and Margaret Hance officiating.

Ruth was born on September 2, 1945, daughter of the late Milford and Lena (Thompson) Basford. She graduated from the Knox Memorial Central School. Ruth married Dean Fishbeck on January 30, 1965. They owned a farm for many years in DePeyster prior to Ruth going to work for Mitel and later for the Gouverneur Correctional Facility. She retired as a keyboard specialist in 2008. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Ruth enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, reading, gardening and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years Dean Fishbeck; two daughters, Vicki Fishbeck of Heuvelton and Joann & Tim Wren of Buffalo; a son Timothy & Kathy Fishbeck of Pomaria, South Carolina; grandchildren Dillon, Searra, Angel, Sarah and Bobby, great grandchildren Cynthia, Sophia and Izzabella; two sisters Ann & Jerry Howes of Heuvelton and Barbara Bartholomew of Massena; three brothers Daniel & Pat Basford of Heuvelton, Everett & Denise Basford of South Colton and Raymond & Sue Basford of Hammond, along with many nieces and nephews.
